•When Geri first puts the box of chess pieces down, you can see the old Pixar logo on the top-left on a torn label.

•Geri appeared in Toy Story 2 as The Cleaner who fixed Woody. When The Cleaner opens his drawers in Toy Story 2, some chess pieces can be seen, in reference to the short.
•After pretending to have a heart attack, Geri knocks down the chess box. When the camera zooms out at the end of the film, if you look to the ground, the chess box is not there. This was discussed in Jan Pinkava's audio commentary of this short. When he was asked about this question, he simply replied, "We just forgot to put it in."
