Here's our stargazing guide to what you can see in the night sky tonight. Our guide is centred around what's visible from the UK, but all northern hemisphere observers should be able to use it, with the odd adjustment to stated times. In our guide, we use Universal Time (UT) and British Summer Time (BST).
Tonight Timeline. This observing guide helps you plan your Solar System observations. It's divided into three sections, detailing visible objects for post-sunset, nighttime and pre-sunrise viewing. The links below show pictures of where in the sky the planets will be in the sky tonight. The pictures also show the Moon and the patterns of the stars (constellations) around them. Because the The Schools' Observatory is in the UK, the pictures show the view from the UK.
The Star Atlas shows a 360 degree view of the night sky for any given location and time up to an elevation of 60 degrees. The application shows stars down to a magnitude of 5 along with all the planets.
