Seasons are Jailbreak events that offer limited-time vehicles, customization items, and other prizes for leveling up and collecting XP. There have been two distinct formats used over the years, with the original season system used from the Winter 2018 Update (OG Season 1) to the Winter 2020 Update (Season 1). The revamped system which utilizes contracts had been ongoing since the 2020 Winter update, only to be revamped yet again in the Season 17 Update. It now has changed to Weekly contracts, as well as a new XP system which involves leveling up via robberies, killing, and arresting.

When the Daily XP limit is reset, a message will appear in the chat, saying [Server] Everyone's daily exp limit has been reset!

In the 2020 Winter Update, seasons have been overhauled. Now, players progress by completing a daily list of police and criminal Contracts for XP, which feeds into a unified level system. There is a reward at each level from 2-10, which typically consist of one vehicle texture, one weapon texture, a grand prize vehicle at level 10, and any combination of rims, spoilers, and furniture items.

For 399, players can buy the Season Pass. This allows them to complete up to two more contracts per cycle, earn 40 more daily XP, and gain access to 4 exclusive rewards, all for the current season only. There are also exclusive rewards for what percentage of players you ended up in (e.g. top 2%) out of everyone participating in the season.

In the final days of every new-gen season, the developers double XP gain from contracts to give players a last-minute boost. As of Season 18, this occurs automatically when there are less than 5 days remaining in the season.

On July 31st, 2023 Badimo announced a set of changes coming with the season system including daily XP, weekly contracts, bonus prizes, and season pass upgrades.

The original season system was introduced in the 2018 Winter Update. There were 50 levels to progress through on each team, with unique rewards on each side (typically including rims, spoilers, textures, and a vehicle). Almost every task in the game would provide some form of XP for leveling up, but team-specific ones like arrests and robberies were the biggest sources.

Season 4 was the last official event under this system, and upon its end on May 3rd, 2020, the system transitioned to uncapped levels with monthly resets. There were no rewards in these pseudo-seasons, except for earning a Nuke at level 50.

In the original seasons, a XP Boost Gamepass was offered. It was a one-time purchase that boosted all XP gain by 50% (x1.5). When the season system was revamped, this gamepass and its boost was discontinued, but owners were grandfathered into the new system and received the 399-worth Season Pass of Season 1: New Beginnings for free.

•asimo3089 has said that season prizes will mostly be focused on cosmetics, rather than gameplay.

•When Badimo announced contracts, the teaser stated that contracts would refresh every 24 hours. However, the next day, asimo3089 said that contracts would refresh every 16 hours.

•During Season 9, contracts were refreshing every 24 hours.

•OG Seasons 1-2 (2018-19) were the only seasons to re-use vehicles, those being the Torpedo for the Criminal team and the Arachnid for the Police team.

•This was done because at the time of OG Season 2's release, vehicle spawning wasn't a feature yet so owners would hypothetically have no way to access the vehicles if they were to be retired.

•Both of the vehicles are marked as "S2" in the Garage and Trading GUIs.
