The intro sequence is a main part of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, playing at the start of every show, with different countries having different intros, even if it's a subtle change, such as the logo showing a different symbol or using a different language.

Most countries stick to a format for their intro sequence that has major similarities to intros in other countries such as sharing the same intro music or graphics. Usually, if a country changes the soundtrack that they're using, gets a new set or hasn't had their intro changed for a while, a new intro will be made.

    First intro (1998-2004)

This intro has 2 major versions, and was used in most countries during the late 90s and early 2000s. It features the classic soundtrack, composed by Keith & Matthew Strachan. The intro features many people in monochrome colours having various parts of the WWTBAM logo projected onto themselves as it forms, ending with a shot of the WWTBAM logo, with the same people standing in front of it, zooming into the logo and flashing to the studio. If a special event occurred, the most frequent example being a celebrity special, above the "Millionaire" text would be an extra title. For example, a celebrity special would say "Celebrity "above "Millionaire". In some versions which used this intro, it had different people of their respective nationalities in the intro, including the Arab World version (which used members of the British Muslim community as it was originally filmed on the UK set, with an updated one used from 2001 until 2004 to suit better with the move to widescreen, even though it was filmed in 4:3), China, Ecuador, India Hindi, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, and Vietnam. Most countries opted to keep their version of the 1998 intro instead of moving to the 2001 one, however some did to avoid using Rave on a widescreen version in 2007. The Chinese version use the mix 2001 - 2004 intro with 2004 - 2007 logo. 1998-2001 intro (Credit to Ben Crowl):https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTmr5Cl7y1o 2001-2004 Intro (Credit to Daniel Mullins): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KXN9lol9sc

    Second intro (2004-2007)

This intro was used starting in 2004, with its last known use being in Serbia in 2011. It again features the classic soundtrack, composed by Keith & Matthew Strachan. This intro sees the logo being formed, starting with Lights Down, with question marks and currency symbols being traced, as well as the background lines being drawn. Only in the UK are the pound signs part of the intro: in other countries which used this version of the intro the pound signs were replaced with lines being drawn as per the Swedish logo. 2004-2007 intro (Credit to Paweł G.): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MbAn0GHd3s

    Third intro/Rave intro (2007-present)

This intro had two versions and was used starting in 2007 and is still being used today in other countries. It features the Rave soundtrack, composed by Ramon Covalo. After the camera goes through the middle of the rings and the pound signs, the intro features the various values of the Money Tree encased in the iconic answer lozenges, starting with the lowest (in the UK's case, £500), it flashed into three more values up the money tree (in the UK's case, £5,000), with the rim of the logo being panned over in the background. The three (later four) lifelines in rave graphic is then presented. The money tree is then shown stacking up all the way to the top prize (in the UK's case, £1 Million), before the camera pans through the name "MILLIONAIRE" (UK, France and Denmark only) before the ending shot. Also, in some countries, such as Australia, Spain and the 2014 German mobile game, the "MILLIONAIRE" text is transparent. Each international version has a different version of the intro with their own money tree, and can opt for various other modifications. For example, most versions do not have their logo right at the start, the Danish and French versions being the only one to do so. In addition, most versions do not have their currency sign in the money tree values in the logo, and those with a currency sign disagree whether to have a space in between the sign and the value, many versions having inconsistency between the money values. When the ring of the logo goes just under the money value, most versions do not have the first part of the name on the ring, instead opting to use two diamonds instead. Some countries (Philippines and most Latin American versions) just left the name part blank. Other changes made with this type of intro is that the opening shot has glowing yellow spokes, and the isometric view of the logo is different. For unknown reasons, the part where the Millionaire wordmark and rings show up is omitted in the 2008-2011 intro of the Italian version and after the amounts are stacked up, it cuts straight to the logo. Since 2017, a new version of the intro has been used in some countries as the original one was not always suitable for high definition. This new version has a sole blue background, instead of the background changing, and the times at which elements are animated in the logo change slightly. The first country to use this type of intro was Poland.

    Primetime Fourth Intro (2020-2021)

The fourth intro was used during the show's revival in 2020 and 2021. It features the classic soundtrack, composed by Keith & Matthew Strachan. It is simply the logo spinning into the frame after the Last Time segment and it lasts about five seconds. The graphics for this intro mimic that of the Olga van den Brandt intro used worldwide.

    Endemol intro (1999-2000)
India Hindi virtural studio intro (2019 (Rave), 2021 (Olga))
Olga van den Brandt intro (2019-present)
On May 25, 2019, the Dutch version made its return after 8 years being off television, with a new intro made by Olga van den Brandt. Due to its success, this intro is now used in many countries (except India Hindi) that have new season or a revival. It features the Rave soundtrack, composed by Ramon Covalo. This intro can be divided into three parts: •The first part shows five purple rings start to spin while the camera is zooming out and the first upward light shown. Once the camera is locked, the lights on seven remaining directions are moving. •In the second part, these lights are moving, starting from the upper right and bottom left. After that, these lights make the big atom rings with five purple rings are spinning inside. •The last part shows the 5 purple rings are moving away and spin back to the start position, and the logo is revealed with the currency and question mark symbols move in an anti-clockwise direction a little bit before stopping. Finally, the camera zooms in to the center of the logo. On the "MILLIONAIRE" text, there are three possible ways for this text to act for the camera is zoom in: •The text will stay in the center. •The text will split at the middle. •The text will move a little bit.

The year in each cell is the year in which each was adopted.

  4. Crazy credits The show originally aired on ABC. When an episode ended on there, Regis would typically make a remark about what show was going to be on there next (for example, Dharma and Greg) right before the credits ended.
