Aug 24, 2024 · Wipro Limited’s history is marked by significant transformations that have shaped its journey from a small vegetable oil manufacturer to a global IT services powerhouse. The company was originally founded as Western India Vegetable Products Limited in 1945 by Mohamed Premji in Amalner, Maharashtra.
Throughout the US, Wipro has over 40 facilities in 23 states. This includes Wipro’s four large-scale delivery centers in Dallas, Tampa, Indianapolis and Atlanta, along with an innovation center in the heart of Silicon Valley to display Wipro’s state-of-the-art solutions and engage with leading technology companies.
Two months later, Wipro applied for a license to develop, manufacture and market minicomputers. By 1989, Wipro had become a diversified manufacturer of computer systems, consumer products and industrial equipment, but as the 90s opened up, so did another transformation in Wipro’s story.
