Papillon (1969) by Henri Charriere. Is it just me or is it simply amazing? I am reading it for the second time and I find it even better than the last time. It was written by a convict describing his escape from Devil's Island, part of the French penal colony in French Guiana. How come he wasn't a writer and yet his book is so amazing and balanced?
