In 1922, Ohio Wesleyan teams were known as the Red and Black or the Methodists. (They weren’t playing the Buckeyes, either. Ohio State didn’t officially adopt that nickname until 1950.) The Chic Harley era had just ended at Ohio State when the school started constructing the new stadium in 1921.
