As 2007 approached, it was announced that Muse would be the first band to play in the newly-rebuilt Wembley Stadium, on June 16. Following the announcement, the first night was sold out in 45 minutes, prompting the organizers to add a second show on June 17.
The members of Muse played in separate school bands during their time at Teignmouth Community College in the early 1990s. Guitarist Matt Bellamy successfully auditioned for drummer Dominic Howard 's band, Carnage Mayhem, becoming its singer and songwriter. They renamed the band Gothic Plague.
