Monogram Pictures Corporation was an American film studio that produced mostly low-budget films between 1931 and 1953, when the firm completed a transition to the name Allied Artists Pictures Corporation.
By 1953, the Monogram brand was dropped completely and Allied Artists continued until 1978, in its later years largely concentrating on the distribution of films produced by other companies, often in Europe.
By the 1950s, however, the major studios had been forced to sell their theater chains and had stopped producing “B” movies, and most of the “Poverty Row” companies had either been absorbed by a larger studio or disappeared.
