Jun 8, 2017 · The first American bandsaw patent was granted to Adam Stewart of Baltimore, in July of 1817. Stewart's patent was lost in the 1836 patent office fire, and so far we have only the patent title ("Band or belt saw") plus a description written by a magazine editor who confessed himself as "little acquainted with machinery in general".

May 9, 2018 · Neither the Collins and Greenwood saw or the Rogers saw has a record of a patent. Indeed, the C.B. Rogers company—active from around 1841 to 1897- held no patents on band saws. The Collins and Greenwood firm did patent, on August 12, 1873, a design for a band saw frame.
