Our roots extend back to 1889, when four enterprising brothers—William Russell (W.R.), Jean, John, and Andrew Case (a.k.a. “The Case Brothers”)—began selling handcrafted knives from the back of a wagon in upstate New York.
The company originated in Little Valley, New York, around the turn of the 20th century, before relocating to its current home, Bradford, Pennsylvania, in 1905. The company's namesake, William Russell Case, first made knives with his brothers under the name Case Brothers Cutlery Company.
Jul 12, 2013 · During the years 1900-1902, John Russell Case had worked for his uncles and earned his indoctrination into the cutlery business. Through the support and financial assistance of his father, Russ Case founded a knife brokerage firm in Little Valley, New York in 1902.
The saga begins in 1889, when the Case brothers – William Russell, Jean, John, and Andrew – started selling handcrafted knives from their horse-drawn wagon in upstate New York. Their dedication to quality quickly built a reputation, leading to the formation of the Case Brothers Cutlery Company in 1900.

Jim went to work trying to solve the financial problems by flooding the market with variations and collector sets. The Case Centennial Set was a 100 knife set in a folder that featured red bone, stag, and goldstone composite.
Oct 15, 2001 · As late as 1975, over 90% of the Case pocket and hunting knife line was CV. The transition to SS really happened gradually.....but picked up steam starting in about 1982. By 1991 or so, the CV models made up maybe 15% of the line.
