The club was founded on 1 June 1963 after Acar İdman Yurdu, Akınspor, İstiklal, Pınarspor and Çelikspor were merged to form a single club; Bursaspor. Green and white were chosen as the club colours, and the club entered the 2. Lig in 1963–64. [2]

In 2015, it was time for the Bursa side to bid farewell to their historic Atatürk home, and move into their brand new Timsah Arena. Its imposing construction with plus 43,000 seats made it to the third largest in the league. “Timsah” is Turkish for “crocodile”, which is one of the team's two nicknames (“The Green Crocodiles”).

Jul 4, 2020 · When Ertuğrul Sağlam took over as Bursaspor manager in January 2009, the club was on their third coach of the season, ninth in the table after just one win in nine games. At the age of 39, Sağlam was young compared to other managers in the league, but had relative experience coaching in the Super Lig.
