Following a move to Desborough Road in 1932, it became Eastleigh County High School. The school relocated to its present Chestnut Avenue campus in 1957, becoming Barton Peveril Grammar School. Finally, in 1973, Barton Peveril was designated as a sixth form college.
In 1957, the school moved to its current site and returned its original name of Barton Peveril School. The last intake to the state coeducational grammar school was in 1972. Since 1973, only sixth form students have been enrolled.
In the garden a wooden annexe was built of four rooms to accommodate the pupils who numbered about 200. We entered at age 11 and worked our way through five forms, leaving at age 16 with Junior Oxford School Certificate, but with the option of staying on in the Sixth form to take Matric.
