Allders was an independent department store operating in the United Kingdom. The original store was established in 1862 in Croydon by Joshua Allder. In the second half of the 20th century, this parent store was developed into a chain of department stores across England and Wales.
1992: Allders-At-Home stores debut. 1993: Allders goes public on London Stock Exchange. 1996: Company sells off Allders International, and buys eight Owen Owen stores. 1997: The A3 private label is launched. 1998: Company acquires 11 new stores; launches A-Grade and other private labels.
Jun 20, 2012 · In 2003 a consortium led by Minerva bought Allders for more than £150m, but losses continue to be recorded and in 2005 administrators are called in with all but the Croydon store sold on.
