You must report your yearly fishing activity in England and Wales if you have a salmon and sea trout licence for rod fishing, even if you did not fish.

There’s a different way to report a catch return if you have a salmon and trout licence for commercial net fishing.

Submit your return after you’ve finished fishing for salmon and sea trout for the year. You cannot add to your return once you’ve submitted it.

To report your catch return online, you’ll need to know:

    •your fishing licence number

    •your postcode

    •the rivers where you fished

•the number of days you fished before and after 16 June

•the species of fish you caught

  2. Submitted the catch return on behalf of a user? The catch return is primarily used for Trout fishing but can also be used to submit details (including comments about your day) for Coarse or Predator fishing too.

  3. Fish Legal (initially the Anglers Co-operative Association and later the Anglers’ Conservation Association) was set up by enlightened fishermen over 70 years ago. They were not prepared to see their fishing destroyed with impunity by polluters.
