Adam and the Ants were an English pop band that formed in London in 1977. The band existed in two versions, both fronted by Adam Ant, between 1977 and 1982. [1] The first phase began when the band were founded in May 1977 and were called the Ants until November of that year.
He was thrown in at the deep end as within two months of joining the band they had recorded their second BBC Peel session (Zerox, Friends, You’re So Physical & Cleoptra) and had signed to Decca Records for a one year deal.
Adam Ant was born on November 3rd, 1954 and comes from the Marylebone area of London. His first involvement with the music industry was when he was at art school in North London playing with a band called Bazooka Joe. After this came a band called The B-Sides.

He played (along with the other members of U2) on Robbie Robertson 's self-titled album from 1987, and has also performed with Maria McKee. [12][13] Clayton joined U2 producer Daniel Lanois and bandmate Larry Mullen Jr. on Lanois's 1989 album Acadie, playing the bass on the songs "Still Water" and "Jolie Louise". [14]
