The series is set in Staten Island, New York City. Like the 2014 film, the series follows the lives of vampires in the city. These consist of three vampires, Nandor, Laszlo, and Nadja. They live alongside Colin Robinson, an energy vampire; and Guillermo, Nandor's familiar.

"The Wedding" is the sixth episode of the fourth season of What We Do in the Shadows. It aired on August 9, 2022.
Guillermo loses his mind trying to help Nandor plan the perfect vampire wedding.
Nandor and Marwa's wedding is approaching, but Nandor has convinced himself that everyone is trying to sabotage the wedding. Guillermo, who has been given the role of wedding planner, attempts to keep up with Nandor's increasingly impossible requests, but eventually reaches his limit. Nadja and The Guide offer their help, and visit Baron Afanas to convince him to officiate the wedding. They manage to convince Nandor that his demands are too much for Guillermo to handle alone, and Nandor uses up his final wishes to restore the Baron to his original state, revive a single dodo bird for the wraiths to eat, and finally, to make Marwa like all the things that Nandor himself likes.
At the wedding, the guests begin to object to Marwa and Nandor's marriage one by one. After an hour, Marwa voices that she had our own doubts and was thinking of cancelling the wedding, but decided to go through with it at the last minute, because she "likes what Nandor likes." During the reception, Nandor receives a miniature lamp from the Djinn, gifting him an additional three wishes. Nandor, uncomfortable with the fact that his wish changed Marwa's will, leaves the reception early to find Colin and Doll Nadja drawing a penis on a sleeping Guillermo's forehead. After shooing them away, Nandor covers Guillermo with his jacket.
