Sep 12, 2023 · Visiting the Crater of Diamonds State Park is one of the best fun things to do in Arkansas for adults and kids alike. This is one of the only places in the world where the public can search for diamonds and take home their treasure. Found in Murfreesboro, Arkansas, this 37-acre field is the surface of a volcanic crater.
- Float down the Buffalo River. The first national river in the USA is still one of the most beautiful. The Buffalo National River runs across a wide swathe of northern Arkansas, and the western portion of its watershed, which touches the Boston Mountains, is widely considered one of the most beautiful stretches of this waterway.
- Appreciate a masterpiece at the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. Amidst the state parks and renowned hikes, you will find something completely different – Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art – an art museum that looks like a set piece from a science fiction movie, built by the Walton family (the folks who started Walmart).
- Hike or drive to the summit of Mt Magazine State Park. The highest point in this mountainous state is Mt Magazine State Park, but don't let that statistic intimidate you.
- Cycle some of the best mountain biking trails in the US. We are going to really annoy some people in Colorado with this next claim, but here goes: the Ozarks might be the best mountain biking destination in the USA.
- Lake Dardanelle State Park. I also had the chance of exploring the magnificent Lake Dardanelle State Park, which stood out as the premier outdoor recreation destination in the area.
- Ozark-St. Francis National Forest. I couldn’t help but be captivated by the state’s vast expanses, magnificent mountains, and pristine forests, all of which perfectly justified its nickname as “The Natural State.”
- Arkansas Tech Museum. The Arkansas Tech Museum, situated on the university campus along North El Paso Road. It quickly became a highlight of my trip. As I strolled through the campus, I couldn’t help but appreciate the stunning architecture, lush green spaces, and inviting walking paths.
- Historic Missouri-Pacific Railroad Depot. As a prominent mining and agricultural state, Arkansas heavily relied on the transportation of goods, primarily cotton and timber, via the rail system.
- The University of the Ozarks. Since 1834, the University of the Ozarks has called Clarksville, Arkansas home. The school has a fascinating history dating back well before the Civil War.
- Cox Berry Farm and Nursery. Located on Arkansas Highway 818 just outside of town, the Cox Berry Farm and Nursery is a family-owned establishment that’s been producing some of the area’s most sought after berries for more than half a century.
- Ozark National Forest. Consisting of more than a million acres of public land under management, Ozark National Forest is comprised of vast wooded tracts, mountain ranges, lakes, and streams that are magnets for outdoor lovers, hikers, bird-watchers, hunters and fisherman.
- Clarksville Aquatic Center. Many rural towns all over America are investing in aquatic centers. They’re a valuable resource for residents and visitors, often improving the general quality of life and providing exercise and recreation opportunities for those who may not have access to them otherwise.
