Based on the new rules for mob spawning the mob platform has to be 24 blocks away from the player, the mobs should fall 22 blocks. My current plan is to build the base platform 128 blocks above the ocean, away from land. I'll have the spawning platform 32 blocks above that.
So with the new 1.18 spawn algos, basically the new "most efficient" mob farms are just simply way high up in the sky, now, 128 blocks away from other mobs. With a waterlogged sign for any water so it doesn't freeze so high up there.

I'm seeing a lot of comments and post about mob spawning in 1.18. I'm wondering if anyone has a solution or a good set up for a mob farm that doesn't have ridiculously lower rates. Thank you. One of the things you can do is simply add more spawning spaces to increase the number of spawns.
