Spray any bears that approach you to send them fleeing. If you don't have bear spray, play dead if you encounter a grizzly bear or brown bear.

Jun 10, 2022 · Try to escape to a secure place such as a car or building. If escape is not possible, try to fight back using any object available. Concentrate your kicks and blows on the bear's face and muzzle. If any bear attacks you in your tent, or stalks you and then attacks, do NOT play dead—fight back!
If a black bear attacks. An attack is said to occur whenever the bear comes in contact with you. If the bear has, or is about to, come in contact with you, play dead. (Before it reaches you, you can also use bear spray, assuming you have some on you and that conditions lend themselves to using it.)
