To become a UKCP-registered psychotherapist or psychotherapeutic counsellor, you need to complete training which typically takes between three and six years, part time. You also need to do approximately 450 hours of practice, theory and skills, and have therapy and supervision yourself throughout.

- Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Becoming a psychiatric nurse practitioner starts with obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree, followed by a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree.
