  3. Mar 9, 2008 · The G28 sensor is the Engine Speed Sensor, the small inductive (Hall) sensor that is on the front side of the block, right near the oil filter housing. I just had that same code and replaced mine, no problems since.

  4. Jun 6, 2015 · Engine Speed Sensor G28. I just replaced my crankshaft position sensor, referred to as a "engine speed sensor" in all of the service manuals and VCDS. There's no information in the manuals at all (at least the official VW ones you get with an erWin subscription).

  5. Oct 10, 2010 · The G40 seems to be pulsing every 700 ms (approx) so the starter motor is achieving 170 rpm. The G28 is pulsing every 2.6ms. The G4 is (the odd one) i calculate should be pulsing every 350ms but seem to be every 1000ms on runs 1, and 600ms on runs 2 and 3.

  8. Nov 28, 2009 · The G28 Engine Speed Sensor on the edge of transmission, above the flywheel ring gear, sends its signal to T55/49 on the ECU in a Grey wire. The ECU uses and processes this signal appropriately to control fuel, timig and boost. It also sends a signal to the G5 tachometer in the instrument cluster.
