The Zaller model is an attempt to describe the processes of receipt of messages from media by the audience, of accepting these messages or not, and to use them as a basis to formulate binary (Yes or No) decisions.
Zaller's model is constructed from four basic premises: Individuals differ substantially in their attention to politics and therefore their exposure to elite sources of political information. People react critically to political communication only to the extent that they are knowledgeable about political affairs.
