Wingdings is a series of dingbat fonts that render letters as a variety of symbols. They were originally developed in 1990 by Microsoft by combining glyphs from Lucida Icons, Arrows, and Stars licensed from Charles Bigelow and Kris Holmes. [1]
Wingdings is not available on all computers, and so the intended characters may not appear on computers running non-Microsoft operating systems such as Mac OS 9, Mac OS X 10, Linux, Android or Chrome OS. The same problems are found with the Webdings, Wingdings 2 and Wingdings 3 fonts – they should not be used in Web pages.
