      • Some of the water turns into an invisible gas called water vapour. This is the first part of the water cycle and it's called evaporation. As the water vapour rises, it cools and as it cools it turns back into droplets of liquid water. We see these liquid droplets as clouds. This is the second part of the water cycle and it's called condensation.

  6. Key learning points. There are four main processes in the water cycle. Evaporation of liquid water creates water vapour in the atmosphere. Air containing water vapour rises, then cools down causing condensation which turns water vapour into droplets of water.

  7. The water cycle. I can recognise, describe and sequence processes in the water cycle. 1 Slide deck. 1 Worksheet. 2 Quizzes. 1 Video. 2. Water flow around buildings. 8. This guide will explain what the water cycle is and how it works by explaining the major stages of the water cycle (evaporation, condensation, precipitation, and runoff). It will also outline how water is stored and distributed within the Earth's atmosphere and the importance of this for plants, animals and humans.
