Carried by the Wind: Tsukikage Ran (風まかせ月影蘭, Kazemakase Tsukikage Ran) is an animated action comedy written and directed by Akitaro Daichi, and produced by Madhouse Studios. The television series follows Ran and Meow, two wanderers who face all sorts of antagonists in Tokugawa Japan .
In the Edo or Tokugawa period (1600–1868), Ran, a female ronin whose skill with the katana is only matched by her taste for sake, is joined by a chinese martial artist who calls herself Lady Meow of the Iron Cat Fist.
Ran is a young female Rōnin with an unmatched degree of swordsmanship. She wanders through Japan, looking for thrills and a steady supply of good saké note . One day she runs into Meow, a somewhat younger girl who has tremendous skill in Chinese martial arts and a lust for strife matching her own.
