Aug 22, 2024 · Ukraine sends units into Russia. Ukrainian troops launched a surprise attack across the border in early August, advancing up to 18 miles (30km) into the Russian region of Kursk.
Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine forced eight million people to flee Ukraine by January 2023, and displaced almost 5.4 million more within its borders, a total of almost one third of Ukraine’s population, and 5.5 million returnees.
