Nov 22, 2023 · The park has three primary trails: The Interpretive Loop (1 mile), the Bison Trail (3 miles), and the Toadstool Park CG (4.8 miles). The way these trails intermingle is unclear, so I’ll draw a crude map (because I can’t find one anywhere), then take a few sentences to explain the system.
This is a fantastic short hike along loose dirt trails with some tricky slopes. The route is clearly marked, and you can expect great views and interesting formations. It's best to go earlier in the day to avoid the heat.

The fascinating landforms of Toadstool Geologic Park hold the secrets of an ancient world where strange and wonderful animals walked the Earth. Imagine seeing rhinoceroses, miniature horses, giant tortoises, camels, and a wild pig so huge and ferocious that it’s called the “hell pig” in western Nebraska.
Toadstool Geologic Park is noted for its unusual geological formations, some in the shape of toadstools, and scientifically valuable fossil deposits. Our interpretive kiosk explains and illustrates the local geology and provides information and history about the local grasslands.

There are 3 main hiking trails in Toadstool Geologic Park: Toadstool Geologic Park interpretive loop trail: 1 mile loop hike. Bison Trail to Hudson Meng: 3.1 miles one way, so 6.2 mile round trip hike. Great Plains Trail loop: 5.1 mile loop hike.
This route combines the Toadstool and High Plains Trails for a big loop that explores the Toadstool Geological Park area. In order to make this route into a loop, you will have to travel along the Forest Road 918 for a few miles before heading back along the Bison Trail.
