Dec 17, 2023 · After the 1938 Kentucky Derby, the Churchill Downs staff noticed that they were short more than a few water glasses. Fans, it turned out, were stealing the glasses to take home as souvenirs of their big day at the races.

The font 'Kentucky Derby' at the top is smaller, making it align with the inside of the nail holes. The letters K and Y of the real glass align with the outside of the nail holes. The center of the horseshoe's arc at the top is much smoother on the real glass.
