    • The Icewind Dale Trilogy. Written by R.A. Salvatore, this series first introduced the legendary dark elf ranger, Drizzt Do’Urden and his companions, as they battle powerful wizards, dread monsters and other foes throughout Faerûn.

Salvatore, this five book series is set in the remote wilds of the Snowflake Mountains and follows the adventures of Cadderly Bonaduce, a young priest of the god Deneir who battles a series of dark forces that threaten his religious order.

A list of all novels, novellas, and anthologies set in the Forgotten Realms, sorted by order of publication. There are 298 listed publications (August 2023).

    Notes

1.This series spans multiple settings. Works that are not relevant to the Forgotten Realms are skipped. 2.This anthology is a supplementary volume to the series, and is not counted as a numbered entry in the series. 3.Servant of the Shard was originally part of the Paths of Darkness series, and by extension the Legend of Drizzt. It was subsequently shifted into a series of its own, namely The Sellswords.

  1. R.A. Salvaore’s Forgotten Realms Series takes place in the universe of the same name belonging to the wildly popular Dungeons and Dragons franchise. Currently comprising thirty seven novels, the author has continued to write since his first release, The Crystal Shard, in 1988.

  2. There are close to 300 novels set in the Realms. The very first is Darkwalker on Moonshae (it wasn't originally meant to be a Realms novel, but it became one). The earliest novels I believe cover the Arcane Age. You are more than welcome to read in chronological order, however you don't have to it.

  3. The book further follows directly from events of the short story "Wickless in the Nether", which is explicitly set in 1368 DR. ↑ Road of the Patriarch takes place just before the start of winter (paperback pp. 124, 206) following the summer in which the events of Promise of the Witch-King took place.

  4. Here is a list of books from different editions of D&D that focus on sharing lore of the Forgotten Realms Setting. The first books are about general lore of the Forgotten Realms, while the latter books are about lore on specific, iconic locations.
