Feb 1, 2020 · Ride in the Whirlwind is, in many ways, a Western on a condensed scale. There are guns, but shoot-outs don’t abound. There’s a chase, but much of it is spent sitting in a cabin listening to the thud, thud, thud of an axe on a tree stump.
Ride in the Whirlwind. Working from a thoughtful script by Jack Nicholson, Monte Hellman fashioned this moody and tense western about a trio of cowhands who are mistaken for robbers and must outrun and hide from a posse of bloodthirsty vigilantes in the wilds of Utah.
