Task -based learning offers an alternative for language teachers. In a task-based lesson the teacher doesn't pre-determine what language will be studied, the lesson is based around the completion of a central task and the language studied is determined by what happens as the students complete it.

Jan 2, 2021 · Task-Based Learning (TBL) is a lesson structure, a method of sequencing activities in your lessons. Sometimes called ‘task-based language teaching’, in TBL lessons, students solve a task that involves an authentic use of language rather than complete simple questions about grammar or vocabulary.
- Identifying task-like activities. In my first article, Criteria for identifying tasks for TBL, we looked at six questions that gave us criteria to help us identify tasks and 'upgrade' potential task-like activities into tasks.
- Three types of task. Activities like the following generally have the potential to become effective tasks: Listing and/or brainstorming. You can list people, places, things, actions, reasons, everyday problems, things to do in various circumstances, etc.

Oct 5, 2023 · In essence, a language lesson based on the Task-Based Language Teaching method has three stages, the Pre-Task Activity, the Task and the Post-Task or Review. During the Pre-Task Activity, you introduce the task to the students, trying to motivate them and make them look forward to it.
