    (Exodus 15:1–18, 21) The first song in the Bible happens after one of its greatest miracles. God parts the Red Sea, allowing the children of Israel to cross on dry ground, escaping Pharaoh’s army. When the Egyptians pursue them, God shuts the sea over them, washing away chariots and horsemen. Then Moses leads the men in a song of praise to God, while Miriam leads the women in the chorus:
