Rika is doomed to replay the very event that created the curse in the first place. That is why at the end, Takeo ends up brutally murdering her. This isn't shown, but it is implied heavily. There's a shot a couple of moments later on where a dead Rika, just like Kayako, is found in a garbage bag.
