The One Year War (一年戦争, Ichinen Sensō?), also known as Zeonic War for Independence (ジオン独立戦争, Jion Dokuritsu Sensō?), was the first major conflict of the Universal Century timeline, fought between the Principality of Zeon and the Earth Federation from January 3, 0079 to January 1, 0080.
The Earth Federation was formed during or immediately after a World War, some say 3 some say 4. But most say 3. By the less devastated nations on Earth. A majority of the Federations military was made out of the Chinese, Japanese, and American surviving divisions. But nobody ever talks about that, so i won't either.
Lore(?) answer: The Earth Sphere is a very large area with lots of people even after getting halved by the first parts of the OYW, and the Zeon frenzy to further advance their technological edge vs. the Fed's frenzy to catch up/surpass meant that a ridiculous amount of R&D of new tech was going on.

I was curious if their was any official map that existed showing the territories on Earth occupied by Zeon around the start of the original series. If not, does any one know any detailed statements on this topic?
