Station Eleven is an American post-apocalyptic dystopian fiction television miniseries created by Patrick Somerville based on the 2014 novel of the same name by Emily St. John Mandel. The miniseries premiered on HBO Max on December 16, 2021, and ran for ten episodes until January 13, 2022.

Created by Patrick Somerville (HBO’s The Leftovers) and with Hiro Murai directing multiple episodes (FX’s Atlanta, Barry, and the Grammy-winning music video “This is America”), expect a visually potent, emotional adaptation of Emily St. John Mandel’s best-selling novel. Below we explain how to watch Station Eleven online now – and on HBO Max in the US.
The end of the world…is just beginning! Station Eleven debuts on HBO Max on Thursday, December 16, with the first three episodes available to watch immediately. The release pattern is rather irregular after that, with two-new episodes dropping each subsequent week, until the concluding episode lands on HBO Max on January 13.

You have a choice of HBO Max price points now. Its ‘With-Ads’ plan costs $9.99 a month, while you can get the HBO Max Ad-Free plan for $14.99 a month, which offers download functionality and improved video quality. Either way, you'll be able to watch Station Eleven on either plan and benefit from a whole host of incredible entertainment, including every season of Sex and the City, Succession, Game of Thrones, Girls, and much more.
Plus, if you opt for the more expensive plan, you'll be able to watch 2021 Warner Brothers movies available to stream on HBO Max day-and-date with their cinema release, for a month from after their debut. That means streaming the acclaimed King Richard starring Will Smith until December 19, and from December 22, the hugely exciting release of The Matrix Resurrections. You can experience all that, in 4K Ultra HD and with Dolby Atmos sound, without leaving your home.
Sadly the 7-day HBO Max free trial has long since been discontinued. But if you're a current HBO Now subscriber or pay for HBO through your cable provider, you might actually be entitled to HBO Max at no extra cost.
Devices compatible with HBO Max include iPhone and Android devices, Apple and Samsung TVs, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles, Chromecast and Chromebooks, and laptops and PCS. HBO Max on Roku and Amazon Fire Stick is also available.
Featuring a host of Canadian talent and written by Canadian author Emily St. John Mandel, it’s only right that Station Eleven is available to stream in Canada too, on VOD platform Crave. The first three episodes arrive on the platform Thursday, December 16 – at the same time as their American neighbors – with two new episodes available weekly until the series concludes on January 13.
There are two plans available and each offers a 7-day free trial to new customers. Both plans provide access to classic HBO series, on-demand movies, Crave originals and Showtime content, including addictive TV shows like The Gloaming, Dexter, and 30 Rock, in addition to the latest HBO Max releases and Hollywood blockbusters, such as Zack Snyder’s Justice League and the Sex and the City follow-up, And Just Like That.
UK and Irish fans of brilliant dystopian dramas will have to wait that bit longer for the end of the world. Station Eleven will belatedly premiere on StarzPlay UK from Sunday, 30 January 2022.
The StarzPlay UK channel is available via Amazon Channels for £4.99 a month, but you’ll also need a live Amazon Prime subscription. Haven’t got one of those? New subscribers can sign-up for a 30-day free trial and enjoy perks such as free delivery, ad-free music streaming, and thousands of hours of film and TV content without paying a thing.
After that time, however, it’s £7.99 a month. So, if you want to keep watching StarzPlay UK content like DC’s Doom Patrol, comedy series The Great, Castle Rock, Outlander and Godfather of Harlem, you’ll be paying a monthly total of £12.98. You’re free of course to cancel either subscription at any time.
The StarzPlay UK platform is also available for download on iOS, ROKU, and a wide range of Android-supported devices, in addition to the Apple TV app and on selected Smart TVs.
Aussie streaming service Stan will be serving up post-apocalyptic thrills from Friday, December 17, with episodes of Station Eleven made available at the same time as in North America. The first three episodes will be ready to binge immediately, and two new episodes will become available each subsequent week.
New subscribers can test drive Stan FREE for 30-days before paying anything, and enjoy over 600 TV shows and in excess of 1,000 movies. After that, it’s AUS$10 a month for the streamers Basic plan, and up to AUS$19 if you want to stream to more than one device and get improved video definition (up to 4K Ultra HD).
