Apr 16, 2024 · The Peabody Institute Library began shortly thereafter, with the reading room in its eastern wing completed in 1878. Designed in the Renaissance Revival style by English-born architect Edmund George Lind, the reading room consists of six floors supported by cast-iron balconies and faux-classical columns with Corinthian capitals and gold leaf.
