Despite the fact that the crowd is largely behind Shibata in this match, not a single person is disappointed once Okada beats him. Then you get Shibata, this absolute ass-kicking weaponized machine of a human being, just completely battering the world champ.
Shibata pretty much dominated Okada is almost every facet of the match: wrestling, striking, submissions. Okada's wildcard was the Rainmaker. If he was able to out last Shibata and land a strong enough Rainmaker, he sneak out a win.

Best match ever. Jinder Mahal winning Number One Contendership and this match were there 1-2 punch combo that turned me into a NJPW fan. So. Thanks Jinder. An absolute classic. How is Shibata the injured one here when the entire match was just Okada dying repeatedly. My all time favorite match.
