SCHOOL PROFILE 2023-2024 Oakland School for the Arts is a public charter school in the Oakland Unified School District that opened its doors in 2002 with a mission to offer immersive arts experiences in a college preparatory setting. The school curriculum revolves around the concept of integration, both between academic subjects and with the arts.

Oakland School for the Arts (OSA) is a nonprofit public charter school founded by Governor Jerry Brown – then Oakland’s Mayor – in 2002. Now in its 17th year, OSA serves over 750 students in grades 6-12 tuition-free.

OSA is a charter school within the Oakland Public school system. With ten different visual and performing arts pathways, we offer a diverse range of programs and a dedicated faculty.
