The distinctive stance, or Kamae, in Yoshinkan Aikido stresses the position of the feet and hips. Practitioners stand with their hips and shoulders square to the front, the front foot pointing outward, and the back foot pointing about 90 degrees to the front foot.
Kamae is a basic stance, also defined as natural. In it, the body's three centers of gravity are aligned on a vertical axis of gravity. Those three centers begin with the head, then spinal column, and lower abdomen. This allows for a balanced stance, regardless of positioning of one's feet.
mawashigeri, step-by-step — including hidden exercise. Take left stance. You may use other stances for practise, but this is the general one to start. Raise your knee while keeping your posture as straight as possible. Start your kick by bringing your knee straight up (Traditional Wado Mawashigeri).
Mawashi geri is classed as one of the basic shotokan karate kihon moves. There are many variations of mawashi geri, snapping the leg back, keeping the leg straight on and after impact, kicking downwards, kicking upwards, etc. Kicking with the shin, top of the foot or ball of the foot.
