I would advise you pick up one or more of: Mort - the fourth Discworld book, and the first one that feels like it's in the same style as Pratchett's later works. Wyrd Sisters - the first book in the main 'Witches' series. Guards Guards - the first book in the 'City Watch' series.
Guards! Back in mid January and I just started Night Watch today (6th book in the Watch series). Just keep reading the Sam Vimes books for now Guards > Men at Arms > Feet of Clay > Jingo > The Fifth Elephant > Night Watch > Thud. It’s an amazing series and the character development really hooks you. Reply.
EDIT: Apparently the consensus is in: Guards! Guards! seems to be one of the most frequently recommended starting points according to you guys! You know, I wonder if that's why they chose it as the first, if not possibly the only, Discworld book to get a big fancy Dunmanifestin edition.
