Mar 13, 2016 · What is greed? 1. Greed is the insatiable desire to have more money or possessions for self-gratification, while ignoring God and eternity. That’s my own definition. Webster defines it as “excessive or reprehensible acquisitiveness.”
Mar 4, 2024 · What does the Bible say about greed? It teaches that greed is not from God, conflicts with godliness, and leads to destruction. Understanding what the Bible says about greed is crucial for those seeking to live a life aligned with divine principles.
Feb 27, 2023 · Our Lord Jesus listed greed among the pollutions of the human heart, right along with murder and adultery (Mark 7:21–22, NASB). In Luke, He prefaced the parable of the rich fool by saying, “Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions” (Luke 12:15).
Greed is (1) characteristic of the wicked and slothful ; (2) inconsistent in believers (Eph 5:3; Heb 13:5)—esp. ministers ; (3) originates in the heart (Mark 7:22, 23), (4) engrosses the heart (Ezek 33:31; 2 Pet 2:14), and (5) is never satisfied (Eccl 5:10; Hab 2:5).
