Bodger and Badger is a British children's comedy programme which was first broadcast in 1989. It starred Andy Cunningham as Simon Bodger, who had a badly behaved companion, a talking badger with a love for mashed potatoes. The programme followed the exploits of Simon Bodger and his puppeted companion, Badger, a badly-behaved badger with a proclivity for mashed potato. The first four series focused on Bodger's jobs as a handyman and his attempts to hide Badger from his superiors. Series 1 was set at Troff's Nosherama where Bodger worked as a cook. Series 2 and 3 were set at Letsby Avenue Junior School. Series 4 was set at Chessington World of Adventures, a real theme park in Surrey.
From series 5, the character Mousey was introduced, a puppeted mouse with a fondness for cheese. The show was now set at Bodger's rented home and later his B&B hotel. Series 5-7 rarely mentioned Bodger's employment, suggesting he was now unemployed. The later series still focused on Bodger's attempts to hide Badger from figures of authority, his landlady from Series 5-7 and the tourist information officer in series 9. These later episodes increased the slapstick humour with prominent comic sound effects and incidental music.
The show was the only to be featured on both CBeebies and CBBC in their Sky+ and Telewest services when they launched on 26 September, 2001, and was one of the many programmes to be carried from CBBC on Choice. It was featured on the "Children's Favourites" section of the CBeebies service, and had its own label on CBBC's. It also later had its own label on CBeebies' service. The show appeared on both digital networks when they launched on 11 February, 2002.
However, it left CBeebies on 27 September, 2002, along with a few other shows from CBBC on Choice. But it remained on CBBC until the mid 2000s.
Simon Bodger wants to become the new Chef at Troff's Nosherama. But Mr Troff looks like he is going to give the job to Marcel. So, Bodger challenges his fancy 'French' rival to a cookery contest - but Badger has a much better idea.
Simon Bodger must win a cookery contest to get the Chef's job at Troff's Nosherama. Badger ends up inside a cake. The Health Inspector pays a visit after reports of badgers roaming around the kitchens. Mr Troff decides the Nosherama needs a new Welcome sign.
