Sep 4, 2018 · The plant kingdom has the following characteristic features: They are non-motile. They make their own food and hence are called autotrophs. They reproduce asexually by vegetative propagation or sexually. These are multicellular eukaryotes. The plant cell contains the outer cell wall and a large central vacuole.
Kingdom: Plantae, animalia, fungi, protoctista and prokaryotae. Phylum: Groups organisms according to body plan eg backbone. Class: Groups organisms to do with general trait eg number of legs....
Mosses, ferns, conifers, and flowering plants are all members of the plant kingdom. The plant kingdom contains mostly photosynthetic organisms; a few parasitic forms have lost the ability to photosynthesize. The process of photosynthesis uses chlorophyll, which is located in organelles called chloroplasts.
Jan 21, 2020 · The Kingdom Plantae. All members of the plant kingdom share common features. Plants: are made of more than one cell. We call them multicellular; have cell walls; mainly cannot move; make their own food; The plant kingdom can be divided into groups based on plant structures. Plants with similar structures are grouped together.
- Division -Thallophytes. This includes algae. The organisms don’t have a differentiated body(thalloid). They are autotrophic and contain chlorophyll. The algae reproduce by vegetative(fragmentation), asexual(spores), and sexual(gametes) methods.
- Bryophytes. They need both water and soil to complete their life cycle and are knowns as amphibians of the plant kingdom. They may have root-like(rhizoids), leaf-like or stem-like structures.
- Pteridophytes. These are the first terrestrial plants to possess vascular tissues namely the xylem and phloem. These vascular tissues are well differentiated so that each cell can perform its required function.
- Gymnosperms. In gymnosperms, the ovules are naked and are not enclosed within any ovary wall at any point in time. Gymnos stands for naked and sperms mean seeds.
