The Montessori Philosophy of Education is based on Montessori’s observation that children have a natural desire to learn and that stages of development exist for which there should be corresponding educational environments and trained adults who prepare these environments.
The term “authentic Montessori” has been defined in this book as having three major components: a) Specially prepared learning environments based on three-year-age groupings. b) Children’s free choice of activity within a three-hour work cycle.
The aim of this second edition is to show how Montessori practices relate to the revised EYFS, which is implemented from September 2012, and includes the learning and development requirements as well as those for welfare and assessment.
