Vinland Saga (ヴィンランド・サガ Vinrando Saga?) is a TV anime series based on the Vinland Saga manga by Makoto Yukimura.
Season 1 of Vinland Saga, animated by WIT Studio, premiered on 08 July 2019 and ended on 29 December 2019. The 24-episode season covered the first 54 chapters of the manga (the War Arc).
Season 2 of Vinland Saga was announced on July 7, 2021. MAPPA took over for the animation, but the majority of Season 1's key staff returned for Season 2 (including director Yabuta Shuhei, character design and animation director Abiru Takahiko and Yamada Yutaka for the music). Season 2 premiered on January 10, 2023 and ended on June 20, 2023. The 24-episode season covered the Slave Arc (Chapters 55-99), as well as the beginning of the Eastern Expedition Arc (Chapters 100 and pages 19-25 of 101).

Vinland Saga is initially set mostly in England in 1013 AD, which has been mostly conquered by the Danish King Sweyn Forkbeard. As King Sweyn nears death, his sons, Prince Harald and Prince Canute, argue over his succession.
The main theme of the saga was Self-Realization, and I really wish it was longer to stretch the after effects of these themes. During the course of the saga Yusuke, Hiei, Kurama, Yomi, and a number of other side characters all discover a purpose for themselves.
