  1. You’ll notice that the Bible reading plans I’ve outlined below start short and simple, and gradually become longer as you progress. But don’t worry! Even the longer plans have helpful features that will help you stick with your Bible reading habit long-term. Read on, and you’ll find out exactly what I mean:

    • Ruth. Ruth 1:14-18. “14. Then they lifted up their voices and wept again. And Orpah kissed her mother-in-law, but Ruth clung to her. 15. And she said, “See, your sister-in-law has gone back to her people and to her gods; return after your sister-in-law.”
    • Proverbs – Virtuous Woman. Proverbs 31:10-31. The book of Proverbs chapter 31 summarizes the attributes to look out for in a virtuous woman. When a virtuous woman is mentioned, the book of Proverbs 31:10-31 clarifies all doubts in anyone’s heart concerning a virtuous woman.
    • Samuel – Abigail. 1 Samuel 25:2-43 2. And there was a man in Maon whose business was in Carmel. The man was very rich; he had three thousand sheep and a thousand goats.
    • Esther – Esther. Esther 2:7-13 7. He was bringing up Hadassah, that is Esther, the daughter of his uncle, for she had neither father nor mother. The young woman had a beautiful figure and was lovely to look at, and when her father and her mother died, Mordecai took her as his daughter.
    • Anna The Prophetess
    • Lydia
    • Rebekah

An old prophetess, Anna had spent her life at the temple in Jerusalem, devoted to prayer and fasting. The book of Luke describes how the sight of young Jesus led her to evangelize about Him. Anna shows us that we must keep watchfor and be ready to praise God’s works.

A cloth dealer in Thyatira, Lydia was a believer when she heard the Apostle Paul speak one Sabbath. But his words brought her to a deeper faith, and her house eventually became a meeting place for other followers. Lydia shows us that we are to grow in lovefor God and for others.

Rebekah, the wife of Isaac, was childless until God blessed them with twin boys, Esau and Jacob. She asked the Lord why the babies were pushing against each other inside her, and Genesis details the surprising prophecy. Rebekah shows us that though God’s plansare sometimes mysterious, they are always good. Photo credit: ©Getty Images/kieferpix
