    This article is about male circumcision that involves surgical removal of foreskin in men for medical reasons such as phimosis, balanitis, paraphimosis and cancer of the penis etc., its benefits and risks including bleeding and infection after operation etc.

    The surgical removal of the foreskin, which is a retractable fold of skin that covers the end of the penis. It may be carried out for medical reasons such as phimosis or paraphimosis.

    Circumcision may be carried out due to tight foreskin (phimosis), balanitis, paraphimosis, cancer of the penis and other conditions. Alternative treatments are preferred in some cases.

    Mild cases can be treated with topical steroids, severe cases need immediate treatment like local anaesthetic gel applied to reduce pain and pressure on head of penis; balanitis can be treated using corticosteroid ointment/creams or antifungal creams.

    Evidence from trials in Africa shows circumcised men have lower risk of acquiring HIV but unclear if it helps prevent other STIs; evidence has been inconclusive so far.

The book's pretty well balanced, though, and it does cover the arguments for circumcision (SOME of which are not bad arguments) as well as the arguments against, the connection to female "circumcision" (it's a believable one), and pretty much anything you would want to know about having some of your wiener cut off.
