Nov 24, 2017 · With invitational values and five-card trump support, a Criss-Cross jump “raise” can be both descriptive as well as somewhat preemptive as there are times the opponents have major suit fits and enough strength to be a nuisance if given the opportunity to make a low-level overcall.
Criss Cross Raise - Also known as the Criss Cross Jump Shift or Crossover, a convention to address minor suit openings when responder has a invitation values (some play game forcing) and no 4 card major.
Feb 26, 2020 · criss-cross inverted raises is designed to distinguish game forcing raises of minor suits from raises that are only invitational. (The double raise is still weak and preemptive in either case, but according to Bridge World Standard 2017, shows some values, i.e. enough to have a shot at 3NT if partner has 18-19 balanced.)
Using criss cross, the bids of 2♦*after 1♣, and 3♣* after 1♦, Jump Shifts (J/S) in the other minor (an alert – in Red on the Convention Card), show a limit raise (10-12 HCP) and at least 4-card support for the bid minor, and denies a 4-card major. These bids are invitational to game.

A jump raise of partner's opening 1-level minor suit opening (suit of 3+ cards) is a pre-emptive bid and promises 5+ card support and a limited hand (less than 9 support points). It strongly discourages further exploration of game contracts (except by a very strong opener).

One is the Criss-Cross Raise, or Criss-Cross Jump Shift, as it is sometimes called. The bidding sequence: 1♣-2♦, shows (a) opening values, and (b) a forcing raise in Clubs. The bidding sequence: 1 ♦ -3 ♣ shows (a) opening values, and (b) a forcing raise in Diamonds.
This is called Criss-Cross. Can play it either way: single raise=GF+ & Criss-Cross=invitational or vice versa If Criss-Cross is invitational, you can’t play 2N after a 12 opening
