This review summarizes our current understanding of the major pathway for the initiation phase of protein synthesis in eukaryotic cells, with a focus on recent advances. We describe the major scanning or messenger RNA (mRNA) m7G cap-dependent ...
Feb 17, 2023 · The three steps of transcription are: initiation, elongation, and termination. i) Initiation. The process of transcription begins when the enzyme RNA polymerase binds to a region of a gene called the promoter sequence with the assistance of certain transcription factors.
Jul 17, 2023 · Protein factors– the process of protein synthesis requires multiple non-ribosomal proteins that transiently participate during the initiation, elongation, and termination phases of protein synthesis. These factors are named for the phase in which they function (for example, eukaryotic initiation factor 2, eIF2).

Jul 8, 2022 · Protein synthesis in eukaryotes is carried out by 80S ribosomes with the help of many specific translation factors. Translation comprises four major steps: initiation, elongation, termination, and ribosome recycling.

Initiation of Translation. Protein synthesis begins with the formation of an initiation complex. In E. coli, this complex involves the small 30S ribosome, the mRNA template, three initiation factors (IFs; IF-1, IF-2, and IF-3), and a special initiator tRNA, called tRNA Metf.
Protein synthesis is principally regulated at the initiation stage (rather than during elongation or termination), allowing rapid, reversible and spatial control of gene expression.
Feb 16, 2021 · In bacteria, three translation initiation factors — initiation factor 1 (IF1), IF2 and IF3 — help to recruit initiator tRNA and to localize the start codon on the message 41.
